Welcome to The Anti-Aging Skincare. By accessing or using this website, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
About This Site
The Anti-Aging Skincare publishes first-person reviews, comparisons and step-by-step guides on skincare and makeup for mature skin: retinol serums, daily facial sunscreen, peptide night cream, vitamin C serum and lighter, hydrating foundation. Everything here is one woman's own experience with her own skin and what each product's label says. It is not medical advice, and nothing on this site promises a result for your skin.

Skin Safety
Patch test every new product first. Apply a small amount along your jaw or behind your ear for a few days and stop if you notice redness, burning, itching or swelling. Sensitive and mature skin can react to ingredients it handled fine years ago.
Retinol makes skin more sensitive to the sun and can cause dryness, flaking and irritation, especially at first. Start slowly, a couple of nights a week, use a pea-size amount, keep it away from the eyes and the corners of the nose and mouth, and wear sunscreen every day while you use it. Do not use retinol if you are pregnant, trying to become pregnant or breastfeeding unless your doctor says it is fine, and ask before combining it with prescription skin treatments or exfoliating acids.
Sunscreen only protects when there is enough of it on your skin. Use the amount on the label, reapply about every two hours outdoors and after swimming or sweating, and do not count on makeup with SPF as your only protection. Sunscreen does not make it safe to stay in strong sun for long periods.
Vitamin C serums can tingle or sting at first and can irritate sensitive skin. Stop using any product that causes ongoing discomfort, and never apply products to broken, sunburned or irritated skin.
See a dermatologist for any spot or mole that is new, changing, bleeding or itching, and for any persistent rash, acne or skin condition. Nothing on this site diagnoses or treats any condition, and the author is not a dermatologist, esthetician or doctor.
